India
believes in the concept of Art as symbolic of the Life-force itself, and not
merely as a part of life to be enjoyed and put aside. Particularly in the
performing arts like Dance, a good performance is indeed the life-blood
of a master spirit. Of the hundreds of dance forms that form the
kaleidoscope of India’s artistic heritage, Kathakali, the ancient dance of
Kerala, brings out in the best manner, the exquisite combination(s) of Aangikam
(body language), Mudra (gesture), Abhinayam(acting),
Sabdam (voice) and Sangeetam
(music).
It is the ‘telling of a story’, an experience beyond the ordinary.
